A big part of the development of the Diocese as a whole is CDI. There have been 23 congregations sending teams over the past 3 years. Through CDI, not only have congregations been strengthened, but a deeper sense of community within the Diocese has grown. We have a common language and direction in helping one another grow our congregations and our Diocese. Clergy have said that CDI has given them the skills to lead their congregations. Lay leaders have commented on how CDI has not only helped them in their congregations, but in their daily lives. We often hear the comment, "I wish I had known this a long time ago."

"Our diocesan Church Development Institute continues to have an impact on our common life. Parishes, which sent teams to the first CDI, are sending more and other congregations are sending teams as well. Over and over again I hear what a difference this intentional training in congregational growth and development is making in the lives of those communities that have participated."

The Diocese of Northern Indiana centers its life on four core values:
- A passion for the Gospel of Jesus Christ
- A heart for the lost
- A willingness to do whatever it takes
- A commitment to one another

The response to our Diocesan CDI has been quite energizing. A majority of our congregations are either currently participating or are on waiting lists covering the next 2 years. Some of our clergy are signing up for a 2nd two years of training and are bringing new parishioners with them as a way to develop a critical mass of trained lay leaders. Parish team projects have been well planned and implemented and are already beginning to bear fruit in their respective congregations. Through CDI the Diocese is engaging proactive ministry and we are seeing positive results.
